My name is Roberta Senn. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, where at my very first ballet class I informed my mother that I would be a ballet dancer. Among my teachers were two principal dancers from the Royal Ballet of London. After receiving a BA from the University of Chicago, I moved to NYC where I had the amazing fortune to be Jerome Robbin’s muse for the original Broadway production of Fiddler on the Roof. He built the entire show on me. I then moved to Europe where I danced in the Geneva Ballet, The Israeli National Ballet, and The Iranian National Ballet of the Shah of Iran.
Returning to NY, I opened the Great Neck School of Dance, and have trained thousands of children, including Ashley Hod, currently dancing principal roles in the New York City Ballet, Isabella de Vivo, soloist in the San Francisco Ballet, and Sarah Hughes, Olympic Gold Medalist of 2002.
In 2015, I opened Ballet & Body, with the purpose of spreading the Ballet Body Barre workout to the entire planet.
